Short Bio:

Bohdan Hawrylyshyn graduated from the University of Toronto in Mechanical Engineering in 1954 and received an MBA from IMI in Geneva in 1958. He has occupied positions in research, engineering and management in Canada. He has a Ph.D. in Economics and Social Science from the University of Geneva, 6 honorary doctorates from Canadian and Ukrainian Universities, Gold medal from the President of Italian Republic. From 1960, he was Professor then Director of the Centre d’Etudes Industrielles, which was renamed in 1982 as International Management Institute - IMI Geneva, until 1986. He taught Sociology of Economic Growth, Creativity, Management of International Operations, World Business Environment, Governance of Countries, and Geopolitics. The Institute merged with IMEDE to become IMD in Lausanne in 1990. In 1982 he created International Management Institute – IMI-Delhi and in 1989, the International Management Institute – IMI-Kyiv. From 1960 to 1986 he lectured in conferences, moderated seminars in over 70 countries on all continents, was advisor on Governance to several countries, consultant to major multinationals (G.E., IBM, Unilever), participated in Swiss governmental delegations to international conferences. Since 1988, Bohdan has participated actively in Ukraine’s political, social and cultural life. He created and chaired the Council of Advisors to the Presidium of the Parliament of Ukraine from 1990-1998, the International Renaissance Foundation from 1991-1998, the International Center for Policy Studies, Kyiv, from 1994-2006. He was an advisor to the first President of Ukraine, three Prime-Ministers, and four Chairmen of the Parliament. Founder and Chairman of the Foundation Vidrodgenia (Geneva) since 1992 and of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Charitable Foundation (Ukraine) since 2010. Bohdan was a candidate for Presidentship of WAAS in 2007. He is also a member of the Club of Rome, International Academy of Management, Foundation Jean Monnet pour l’Europe, and Forum Suisse de Politique Internationale.
