WAAS@60 conference – Leadership for Planetary Momentum

This is a momentous planetary moment. It presents both a severe challenge and a rare opportunity to generate extraordinary planetary momentum. Both motivation and leadership are essential. The threat of pending crises provides the motivation. The leadership can come in many forms and from a wide range of stakeholders, as explored in the UN-WAAS project GL-21 in 2020. This session will focus on the potential role for WAAS and an expanding network of partner organizations as potential catalysts of that movement — like that which led to the birth of the UN system following two horrendous world wars or the unexpected end of the Cold War and nuclear arms race and led to the rapid democratization, unification of Europe, and birth of WWW as the first truly global social organization.
